The San Francisco 49ers acquired quarterback Blaine Gabbert in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

The Jaguars will receive a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft in return, ESPN reported.

Gabbert, whose base salary is $2 million in 2014, will vie for the backup job behind starter Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco.

The 24-year-old Gabbert played in only three games last year and completed 42 of 86 passes (48.8 percent) for 481 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted seven times.
