Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin was one of four NFL players who were suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season on Friday for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Also drawing suspensions were Atlanta Falcons cornerback Jalen Collins, Green Bay Packers cornerback Demetri Goodson and Tennessee Titans receiver Andrew Turzilli. The suspensions are without pay.
Colvin, entering his third season, is coming off a solid campaign in which he had 73 tackles and four sacks.
“I made a mistake and I will take responsibility for it,” Colvin said in a statement. “I apologize to my family, the Jaguars’ organization, especially my coaches and teammates, as well as Jaguars fans who have been supportive of me since I was drafted here in 2014.
“I will grow from this. I will be a better man and player from this. I will not let this define me and I will overcome this. Thank you.”
Collins started two games last season as a rookie after being a second-round pick out of LSU.
“We are disappointed to hear the news regarding Jalen today,” Atlanta coach Dan Quinn said in a statement. “I have already spoken to Jalen about this, and I have no doubt this will be something that he will learn from.”
Goodson is a backup on the Packers’ defense while Turzilli caught two passes for the Titans as a rookie.
