Atlanta Hawks center Pero Antic is projected to be out two to four weeks with a stress fracture in his right ankle.
Antic initially sprained the ankle during the Hawks’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 16 in London but continued to play. The stress fracture was detected Thursday during a follow-up MRI and examination by Dr. Ashok Reddy at Peachtree Orthopedics in Atlanta. Antic was placed in a protective walking boot.
The rookie was averaging 12 points and seven rebounds in the past three games while picking up the slack after veteran Al Horford was sidelined for the rest of the season on Dec. 26 with with a torn pectoral muscle.
In 29 games this season, Antic is averaging 5.8 points and 3.4 rebounds.
Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll is listed as day to day with a mild left hamstring strain. He left Wednesday night’s win over the Orlando Magic with the injury.
