The Cleveland Indians on Tuesday signed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to a four-year contract through the 2018 season with club options for 2019 and 2020.
Financial terms of the deal were not released by the team, but Yahoo Sports reported the contract to be worth approximately $22 million.
The 28-year-old Carrasco posted an 8-7 record with a 2.55 ERA in 40 games, including 14 starts, last season. In 134 innings, he had 140 strikeouts and walked 29 batters.
In 88 career games with the Indians since arriving in a six-player trade with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009, Carrasco has a 19-26 record with a 4.30 ERA.
The right-hander is slated to make his 2015 debut on Wednesday against the Houston Astros. He posted his first career shutout in September against the Astros, giving up two hits and striking out 12.
A day earlier, the Indians announced that American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber agreed to a five-year extension with two club options.
