Indians release Matsuzaka


The Cleveland Indians released right-handed pitcher Diasuke Matsuzaka from his Minor League contract, the team announced Sunday.

The Indians signed Matsuzaka, 32, on Feb. 13. In four spring appearances, he pitched 8.0 innings, yielding two runs on 10 hits and one walk, while striking out three.

He was 1-7 with an 8.28 ERA in 11 starts for the Boston Red Sox last season.
