Cleveland right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez lost a American League-worst 17 games this past season, but the Indians announced Wednesday that they exercised his contract option for 2013.
Meanwhile, the Indians declined to pick up the 2013 club options for designated hitter Travis Hafner and right-hander Roberto Hernandez.
Jimenez, 28, went 9-17 with a 5.40 ERA in 31 starts. His 2013 contract is worth $5.75 million in 2013. He also has an option for 2014 at $8 million.
The injury-plagued Hafner hit .228 this past season and was on the disabled list twice. His club option was $13 million.
Hernandez, previously known as Fausto Carmona, started just three games in 2012 and went 0-3 with a 7.53 ERA. His 2013 contract option was $12 million.
Hafner and Hernandez are eligible for free agency.
