The Miami Heat signed center Keith Benson, the team announced Tuesday.
The Heat did not announce terms of the deal, but the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported the contract is not guaranteed.
The Heat had to wait to officially announce the deal until Benson received clearance from FIBA, the sport’s international ruling body, after Benson had played overseas in recent years.
Benson spent the past two seasons playing professionally in Belarus, China, Lithuania and Estonia, and he had previously played in Italy and the Philippines.
Benson has appeared in three NBA games, all with the Golden State Warriors in the 2011-2012 season. He totaled no points, three rebounds and nine minutes in those three games.
Benson was originally taken in the second round by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2011 draft.
