Miami Heat center Justin Hamilton is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks after undergoing a procedure Monday to repair an atrial flutter.

Hamilton was sent to the hospital after experiencing light-headedness during practice. He will begin non-contact exercises in approximately three weeks before being evaluated for a return to practice, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Hamilton signed a 10-day contract with Charlott on March 4 before being signed for the rest of the season by the Heat on March 14 and averaging 3.7 points in seven games. The 24-year-old is expected to compete for a spot in the rotation as a reserve to Chris Bosh.

The Heat’s depth chart during the preseason has already taken a hit with Josh McRoberts (toe) and Danny Granger (knee) recovering from offseason procedures and expected to be sidelined until the start of the regular season.
