Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck confirmed Monday on Twitter that his time with the Indianapolis Colts is over.

The 40-year-old veteran, who served as the backup to Andrew Luck for the past three seasons, made no indication that he intends to retire.

Hasselbeck wrote on Twitter: “Amazing experience w/ Colts. My family & I are grateful to you Indianapolis. Many great friends, you will be missed!”

Last season, Hasselbeck posted a 5-3 record as a starter while Luck was hurt. He completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 1,690 yards with nine touchdown passes and five interceptions for an 84.0 passer rating.

A sixth-round draft pick of the Packers in 1998 out of Boston College, Hasselbeck was a backup in Green Bay for two years before spending 10 seasons as the Seattle Seahawks’ starter. He started all 16 games for the Tennessee Titans in 2011 and five games in 2012 before moving to Indianapolis.

For his career, Hasselbeck has an 85-75 regular-season record as a starter and a 5-6 mark in the postseason. (All his playoff action came with Seattle.) He has a career 60.5 percent completion rate with 36,638 passing yards, 212 touchdown passes and 153 interceptions. Hasselbeck’s career passer rating is 82.4, which ranked 44th in NFL history.

He ranks 18th alltime in passes completed, 19th in pass attempts, 22nd in passing yards, 31st in completion percentage and 31st in passing touchdowns.

Colts punter Pat McAfee tweeted Monday, “Thanks @Hasselbeck for being the perfect example of how to be an @NFL pro.”
