Going into Duke’s game against Clemson on Saturday, it was a season still with promise for the Blue Devils, but with massive disappointment for the home team Tigers.
Duke wide receiver Sahmir Hagans and his quarterback Darian Mensah made sure that the Clemson downturn reached near disastrous condition with its season’s fifth defeat.
After a 28-28 shoot-out first half, the second half was back-and-forth, Clemson leading 45-38 with under a minute remaining. That’s when the Blue Devil duo made the impact play.
The Blue Devils scored a touchdown with just 40 seconds remaining and trailed by one. Rather than kick an extra point for the tie and overtime, head coach Manny Diaz decided to go for the win.
The winning pass was thrown by Mensah to Hagans.
That two-point conversion reception by Sahmir Hagans has been chosen as the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”
For the game, Hagans caught just three passes and the game-winner was his longest catch of the game. Mensah completed 27 passes for 361 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
For Duke it was its fifth consecutive ACC road win and its first win at Clemson’s Death Valley since 1980.
Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”
The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.
U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
