Free-agent pitcher Jeremy Guthrie signed a three-year $25-million deal with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
Guthrie will earn $5 million next season, $11 million in 2014 and $9 million in 2015.
The Royals acquired the 33-year-old during the season from the Colorado Rockies, and he went 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 14 starts in Kansas City.
The Royals will have a revamped rotation that already includes Ervin Santana and right-hander Chris Volstad.
