Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy received an apology from the Big 12’s coordinator of officials for an incorrect call, according to a report in The Oklahoman.
Walt Anderson told Gundy that head linesman Brad Edwards called touchdown too early without having a good view of the play that put Texas ahead in a game the Cowboys would lose, 41-36, the report said. Texas running back Joe Bergeron fumbled, calling into question whether it happened before he crossed the goal line.
Edwards raced into the pile to signal that Bergeron had scored, and replay officials confirmed the call through instant replay, despite the fact that Oklahoma State safety Daytawion Lowe recovered the fumble from the pile.
