Missouri freshman wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham and two teammates were arrested for possession of marijuana and have been suspended for Saturday’s home game against Vanderbilt.
A team spokesman told the Columbia Tribune that all three players are freshmen and that they won’t be with the team Saturday.
“All other disciplinary measures will be handled internally, and there will be no further comment,” team spokesman Chad Moller said.
Green-Beckman, a five-star recruit, has seven catches for 128 yards and a touchdown this season. Wide receiver Levi Copeland and linebacker Tory Boozer are expected to redshirt this season.
The three players and two unidentified individuals were sitting in a parked Lincoln Navigator near Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Mo., when the late-night arrest took place, according to the Maneater, Missouri’s student newspaper.
“The officer noticed the individuals sitting in a car and went up and made contact,” campus police spokesman Brian Weimer said. “The officer observed the odor of marijuana. Through the investigation, the officer made the arrest of three individuals.”
Weimer said Green-Beckham, Boozer and Copelin were taken to the police department and released. It was determined the other two individuals had nothing to do with the marijuana and were not arrested.
