New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz said Monday that he will undergo season-ending surgery on his injured left calf.

“This hurts, you know, mainly because I worked so hard to come back from the patella tendon surgery and fought hard, day-in and day-out — rehab, physical work, strength work — and I felt like I was back to 100 precent,” Cruz announced in a video on Bleacher Report’s Uninterrupted platform. “And then the calf happens and it’s tough — it’s a tough thing to go through.”

The 29-year-old Cruz hasn’t played this season and hasn’t practiced since Aug. 17 when he pulled his left calf muscle. In 2014, his season ended when he tore his right patella tendon on Oct. 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
