Georgia RB Chubb has knee surgery

Georgia running back Nick Chubb underwent surgery on his left knee Friday after suffering ligament damage two weeks ago in the Bulldogs’ loss to Tennessee.

Chubb, considered a Heisman Trophy contender before the injury, is expected to make a full recovery after the surgical procedure at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga.

The sophomore tore the posterior cruciate and other ligaments on the Georgia offense’s first play of the SEC game won 38-31 by Tennessee on Oct. 10 in Knoxville, Tenn.

Georgia has yet to announce a timetable for Chubb’s return, but Bulldogs coach Mark Richt said he is hopeful that Chubb will be back next season.
