Shannon Eastin became the first woman to officiate an NFL game when she served as the line judge on Thursday during the Chargers’ 21-13 preseason victory over the Green Bay Packers in San Diego.

Eastin, 42, is usually a referee in the Division I FCS Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and she has been a football official for 16 years.

She got her opportunity to officiate in the NFL as a replacement official for the regular officials, who are locked out in a contract dispute.
The cap she wore is scheduled to go the Football Hall of Fame.
