Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews is expected to be sidelined a couple of weeks with a sore knee, coach Doug Pederson announced Monday.

Pederson told reporters that the third-year receiver did not suffer any structural damage following a low hit by rookie defensive back Jalen Mills during Friday’s practice. Pederson said last week that Matthews was “just going to be sore” for a couple of days.

The Eagles are expecting Matthews to be ready to play in the team’s third preseason contest against Indianapolis on Aug. 27, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Matthews, who traditionally works out of the slot, led the team’s wideouts in receptions (85), receiving yards (997) and touchdowns (eight) last season.

With the 24-year-old ailing, Philadelphia is expected to grant more opportunities to second-year wide receiver Nelson Agholor as well as former Ram Chris Givens, ex-Giant Rueben Randle and Josh Huff.
