The Philadelphia Eagles acquired defensive end Clifton Geathers from the Indianapolis Colts Thursday for fullback Stanley Havili, completing their second deal of the 2013 free agency period, the team announced.
A sixth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2010, Geathers played in eight games for Indianapolis in 2012, recording five tackles and a sack. He has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys during his three-year career.
Geathers, 25, comes from a NFL family. His brother, Robert, played nine years as a defensive end with the Cincinnati Bengals. His father, Robert, Sr., a defensive lineman, was a third-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1981, and his uncle, James “Jumpy” Geathers, played 13 years in the NFL career, and was part of two Super Bowl Championship teams.
Havili became expendable after the Eagles signed free agent James Casey.
