Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond and Houston Rockets guard James Harden were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the seven-day period that ended Sunday.
Drummond also won Eastern Conference honors in the opening week and is the first player to open a season with consecutive Player of the Week awards since Miami’s LeBron James in 2011-12.
Drummond averaged 22 points and 24.3 rebounds in three games. He had 25 points and a career-high 29 rebounds in a contest against Indiana last Tuesday and ended the week with 29 points and 27 rebounds against Portland on Sunday.
Harden averaged 38.5 points while leading Houston to a 4-0 record. Harden began the week with 37 points against Oklahoma City and completed the week with back-to-back 40-point efforts – 43 against Sacramento on Friday and 46 against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
