The Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday released third baseman Mark Teahen, who was playing for their Class AAA team in Reno.
Teahen asked the team for his release since he had not appeared in a game for the Reno Aces since April 30.
Arizona tried to trade Teahen earlier this month to the Cincinnati Reds, but the deal was rejected over health concerns.
Teahen last played in the major leagues in 2011. He has a lifetime batting average of .264 in the majors with the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays from 2005-11.
