Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee reportedly may need surgery on his right big toe that would end his season.

Lee was on crutches after spraining the toe during the third quarter of last Sunday’s victory over the Carolina Panthers and ESPNDallas cited sources saying a season-ending procedure may be necessary to repair the toe.

Lee was awaiting the results of an MRI on Tuesday and Cowboys coach Jason Garrett did not offer an update.

One of the Cowboys’ two defensive captains, Lee leads the team in tackles with 77 in six games this season.

Lee missed one game last season after dislocating his left wrist, avoiding season-ending surgery. He led the team with 131 tackles with four interceptions.
