Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, second baseman Ben Zobrist, shortstop Addison Russell and third baseman Kris Bryant all lead their respective positions in National League All-Star fan balloting as of Wednesday.
“I’m happy for our guys,” Chicago manager Joe Maddon told ESPN.com. “I think it’s great. It’s great for the organization.”
Rizzo has a league-leading 2,202,494 votes, well over one million more than San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, who ranks second in the voting.
Rizzo is batting .277 with 17 home runs and 54 RBIs through 68 games.
Zobrist has received 2,057,122 votes, Russell has accumulated 1,489,998 — just 379,996 ahead of second-place shortstop Trevor Story of the Colorado Rockies — and Bryant has 2,070,738 votes.
The 1963 St. Louis Cardinals were the last team to have its entire infield represented among the NL’s All-Star starting lineup.
