The team’s top receiver missed the last two games with a hairline fracture below his right knee. Owner Jerry Jones said last week Bryant shouldn’t be ruled out, only to have the Cowboys do just that.
Bryant was injured against the Bears on Sept. 25.
Of a possible return at Lambeau Field this week, Jones said Tuesday the Cowboys “won’t take any chances there.” Jones said Bryant had sensitivity near the site of the injury after running last week. If he works out Thursday and Friday without incident, the Cowboys could roll the dice, or hold him out as a precaution.
Cornerback Orlando Scandrick remained sidelined Sunday and was inactive against the Bengals. Jones said the team’s top cover man is not likely to be ready for the Packers this week, meaning left cornerback Morris Claiborne would draw Jordy Nelson in coverage.
Bryant has made eventful trips to Green Bay in the past.
In a tightly contested divisional playoff game Jan. 11, 2015, Bryant made a circus catch at the 2-yard line on a 4th-and-2 play with just under five minutes remaining. As he lunged toward the goal line and landed near the 1, Bryant lost control of the ball and the pass was ruled incomplete in a controversial ruling that gave Green Bay possession on downs.
