The Indianapolis Colts promoted linebacker Amarlo Herrera to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, put linebacker Nate Irving on injured reserve, signed free agent cornerback Jalil Brown, waived cornerback Josh Thomas and signed linebacker Edwin Jackson to the practice squad on Tuesday.
Herrera has been with the Colts on the practice squad for most of the year. He has played in one game for Indianapolis this season and has one tackle on special teams.
Brown has started three of the four games he has played for the Colts in 2015, totaling 15 tackles and one pass defensed. Thomas had seen action in eight games for the Colts this season and compiled three tackles, two passes defensed and one special teams tackle.
Irving started twice in eight appearances for the Colts this season and had 18 tackles, one sack, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and two special teams tackles.
Jackson signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in May and was waived on Aug. 31.
