Pro Bowl free agent safety LaRon Landry signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday night, the team announced.
CBSSports.com reported Landry received a four-year, $24 million deal with $14 million guaranteed.
“We’re ecstatic about this signing,” said General Manager Ryan Grigson in a statement. “We feel LaRon is an absolute game changer and a true impact player. We’re talking about a 220-pound safety that runs 4.3 and plays to that speed. His approach to the game and his style of play are lights out and embody the culture we’re building on the defense and this team in general.”
Landry, 6-0, 220 pounds, previously played for the New York Jets last season and before that the Washington Redskins (2007-2011). He has started 79 of his last 80 games. He has six interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks and and 535 tackles.
He forced four fumbles and made 113 tackles last season in earning a Pro Bowl berth.
Landry was the selected to the All-Rookie Defensive Team in 2007 after becoming the Redskins rookie since 2001 to start every game. His biggest moment that season was twice intercepting Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck during the fourth quarter of the NFC Wild Card playoff game.
