St. Louis Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal will not pitch in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night after experiencing arm soreness during a throwing session the previous day.
Rosenthal told National League manager Bruce Bochy and Cardinals manager Mike Matheny about his arm and the three agreed it was best for the pitcher to sit out the midsummer classic in Cincinnati, MLB.com reported.
The right-hander has 26 saves and a 1.49 ERA with 15 walks and 45 strikeouts in 42 innings this season. Rosenthal previously experienced some arm soreness in June.
