The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to convince center DeAndre Jordan to re-sign with them rather than follow through on his verbal commitment to join the Dallas Mavericks.
Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, coach Doc Rivers and four players were set to meet with Jordan on Wednesday in his hometown of Houston, according to the Los Angeles Times. The players were Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce and J.J. Redick.
Jordan agreed last week to a four-year, $80 million deal with the Mavericks. The deal cannot be signed until Thursday.
Jordan is still “torn” and “unsure” about his choice, sources told ESPN. And the meeting was initiated after Jordan contacted Rivers on Monday night, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Meanwhile, Jordan also was expected to meet with Mavs owner Mark Cuban and forward Chandler Parsons on Wednesday.
