Clippers sign G Rivers, C Aldrich


The Los Angeles Clippers on Monday signed guard Austin Rivers and center Cole Aldrich.

The 22-year-old Rivers is the son of head coach Doc Rivers. His new contract reportedly is a two-year deal worth $6.4 million.

Rivers appeared in 41 regular season games for Los Angeles after being acquired in a midseason trade with the Boston Celtics.

He averaged 7.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Clippers. Rivers was the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft by New Orleans.

For the past two seasons, Aldrich was a member of the New York Knicks. Details of his contract were not available.

The 6-foot-11 center has appeared in 196 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Knicks and has career averages of 3.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 196 games.
