Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick will miss up to two weeks with a bruised quadriceps, coach Doc Rivers said.

Redick, acquired via sign-and-trade in the offseason, is in the first year of a four-year, $27.7 million contract.

Rivers said in August that the Clippers will use many of the half-court sets designed to get Ray Allen open perimeter looks in Boston to spring Redick for outside shots as a way to balance the floor.

Redick isn’t a great defender, but the Clippers parted with Caron Butler and, more painfully, sixth man and backup point guard Eric Bledsoe to add the dead-eye 3-point shooter.
