Los Angeles Clippers forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis will be a game-time decision for the series finale on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs with a left ankle sprain.
The Clippers are hoping that Davis will recover in time for the deciding Game 7 in the first-round Western Conference series. The team did not have a practice or shootaround planned before the matchup.
Davis suffered the injury with 11:07 left in the fourth quarter of the Clippers’ Game 6 win on Thursday night in San Antonio when he landed awkwardly after fouling Tiago Splitter. Davis was helped off the court and into the locker room while sitting in a wheelchair.
His status is listed as day to day by the team.
“It’s an ankle sprain, and we’ll find out more (Saturday),” Rivers said Friday. “We won’t know much today.”
If Davis is absent, Hedo Turkoglu and Spencer Hawes are likely to see more playing time off the bench.
“We got Turk, we got Spencer, we can go small, we basically did that last night,” Rivers said. “The game will dictate that.”
Davis is averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game in the playoffs.
