
Ohio State won Saturday but lost a spot in the AP poll released Sunday with undefeated Clemson leapfrogging the Buckeyes for the No. 1 ranking in college football for the first time since 1981.
Clemson rallied to beat Florida State and maintain control in the Atlantic Coast Conference while nudging Ohio State from the top perch in the poll with 31 first-place votes. The Buckeyes had 26 and Alabama received two.
Ohio State beat Minnesota 28-14 and moved to No. 2 in the poll, which comes two days before the College Football Playoff rankings are released for the second time this season on Tuesday. The Buckeyes won the 2014 national championship and opened the season at No. 1. Ohio State remains No. 1 in the coaches’ poll.
Oklahoma State rose seven spots in the rankings entered the top five for the first time this season behind No. 3 Alabama and Baylor at four in the AP poll
LSU, which lost to Alabama on Saturday, is ninth.
Navy cracked the top 25 at No. 22 on the heels of Saturday’s upset of previously undefeated Memphis. The Tigers are No. 25.
Michigan State, also undefeated entering the weekend, is down from No. 6 to No. 14 after a 39-38 loss at Nebraska.
The only two-loss team in the top 15 is Michigan, which is 15th.
