Ken Whisenhunt will be named the San Diego Chargers’ new offensive coordinator, ESPN reported Thursday.
Whisenhunt was fired as the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach after the team finished 5-11 for the second time in the last three seasons.
Whisenhunt was 45-51 in the regular season over six years with the Cardinals. He also posted a 4-2 playoff record, including a Super Bowl appearance.
Prior to that, Whisenhunt was the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator.
Whisenhunt, 50, started his coaching career as an assistant at Vanderbilt in 1995. He also served as an assistant coach with the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets before joining the Steelers staff in 2001.
Earlier this week, the Chargers hired former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as their new coach.
