The Cleveland Cavaliers finalized a deal on Thursday night to acquire guard Keith Bogans from the Boston Celtics.
The Cavs also receive the rights to the Sacramento Kings’ 2015 and 2017 second-round draft picks from the Celtics for guard John Lucas III and forwards Erik Murphy, Dwight Powell and Malcolm Thomas in addition to the Cavs’ 2016 and 2017 second round picks.
Cavs general manager David Griffin confirmed the deal.
Bogans, a 6-foot-5 guard, has averaged 6.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists during an 11-year NBA career with Orlando, Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Chicago, Brooklyn and Boston.
Lucas III played in 42 games for the Utah Jazz in 2013-14, averaging 3.8 points and 1.0 assist per game. In six NBA seasons with Houston, Chicago, Toronto and Utah, he has averaged 4.8 points and 1.4 assists per game.
Murphy, a 6-10 forward, averaged 0.3 points and 0.3 rebounds in 24 games for the Chicago Bulls last season. Thomas, a 6-9 forward, played in eight games for Utah and San Antonio last season and averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds.
Powell, the No. 45 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, signed with Cleveland on Aug. 23.
Bogans will join a team led by a slimmer LeBron James, who left Miami this summer to return to Cleveland and will enter training camp around 250 pounds after a 67-day diet that eliminated carbs, dairy and sugar.
“A lot lighter than I’ve been playing at in the last few years,” James said in an CNN interview. “But I feel good.”
Asked if he’s quicker, James said, “I am. I am. And that’s not such a good thing for the competition.”
