Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson is out indefinitely after suffering from concussion symptoms, the team announced prior to Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Indiana Pacers.
It was unclear when Gibson suffered the concussion. He was placed in the NBA concussion protocol program and he cannot be activated until he is symptom-free and cleared by an NBA neurologist.
Gibson, 26, was recovering from season-ending Achilles’ tendon surgery last April.
In his sixth season with the Cavs (who drafted him 12th overall in 2006), Gibson averaged 7.5 points per game last season, down from his career-best 11.6 PPG in 2010-11. He also was averaging a career-high 2.9 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists. In 351 career games, Gibson has averaged 8.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
