Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson lost the tip of his left middle finger after tackling New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles during a punt return Sunday, the Arizona Republic reported.
After the play, Johnson went to the sideline, took off his glove and the tip of the finger was still in it.
Johnson stayed in the game but had surgery afterward. The finger was shaved down to the first knuckle. Doctors are concerned about a possible infection since the bone was exposed.
