The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remained active in free agency on Wednesday, signing former Chicago Bears quarterback Josh McCown to a two-year, $10 million contract, according to reports.

The deal includes the opportunity to boost the total package to $15 million through incentives, CBSSports.com reported.

Last season, the 34-year-old McCown replaced injured Jay Cutler in Chicago and played well until Cutler returned. In eight games, including five starts, McCown passed for 1,829 yards with 13 touchdowns and one interception while completing 66.5 percent of his throws.

According to NFL.com, the coveted McCown had visits scheduled with the Houston Texans and New York Jets before the deal was reached with the Buccaneers.

Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith was with the Bears when McCown came to Chicago in 2011. McCown also spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, one each with the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders and two with the Carolina Panthers. He did not play football in 2010.

Earlier free-agent signings by the Buccaneers include defensive end Michael Johnson, cornerback Alterraun Verner, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and tight end Brandon Myers.
