Brewers set to sign 1B Reynolds

Free-agent first baseman Mark Reynolds will sign a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to multiple reports.

The Brewers plan to make Reynolds their everyday first baseman, MLB.com reported. However, a deal has not yet been reached.

The 30-year-old Reynolds batted .220 with a combined 21 home runs and 67 RBIs in 135 games last season for the Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees.

The Brewers are looking to fill an opening at first base after Corey Hart signed with the Seattle Mariners during the offseason.

Earlier reports indicated that the Washington Nationals were interested in Reynolds, but Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche are already in place as the starters at third and first base, respectively.
