Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez told reporters Tuesday that he expects to miss the next seven to 10 days with a sprained left knee.
Ramirez was hurt sliding into second base on Saturday. An MRI performed Sunday showed no structural damage, but the condition was serious enough to keep him out.
“It might even be two weeks, but it’s still early in spring training, so it’s not that big a deal,” he told reporters. “It’s a lot better. The way it felt the other day I thought I would be on crutches right now. I was a little scared. It was pretty sore. I didn’t know what to expect. But everything is coming back good. We’ll have 15 days after (the absence), so there’s still plenty of time.”
Ramirez is coming off a fine first season with the Brewers. The team’s cleanup hitter, Ramirez batted .300 with 27 homers, 50 doubles and 105 RBI.
