Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett was hoping to avoid missing extended playing time after injuring a hand in an accident on Sunday in the clubhouse, but he was headed to the disabled list on Tuesday.
Gennett received stitches after cutting the hand while trying to grab soap in the shower after Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh.
He posted a picture of the hand on Instagram after the incident and said he “sliced my finger on the bottom of the metal thing that holds the shampoo and body wash. Craz I know.”
To take the 24-year-old Gennett’s place on the roster, the Brewers called up journeyman Elian Herrera from Triple-A.
In 10 games and 29 at-bats this season, Gennett is batting .207 with one RBI.
