The Milwaukee Brewers activated outfielder Carlos Gomez from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday afternoon’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

Gomez, a two-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner, has been sidelined since April 15 with a hamstring strain, missing 15 games during that stretch.

Gomez was in the leadoff spot for the first eight games of the season for Milwaukee. He batted .235 with one home run and six RBIs over 34 at-bats. Last season, Gomez hit .284 with 23 homers, 73 RBIs and 34 steals.

The Brewers went 3-12 without the 29-year-old Gomez in the lineup.

“For the last 15 days, I’ve been really frustrated,” Gomez said. “I couldn’t do anything to help my team move forward. I think when I’m in the lineup, it’s a little bit different. We’re going to be a little bit better. The team has started to play better. We still lost some games, but it’s not like before.”

In a corresponding move, Milwaukee designated infielder Luis Jimenez for assignment.
