Relief pitcher Matt Capps reached agreement Tuesday with the Atlanta Braves on a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old Capps has not pitched in the major leagues since 2012 because of shoulder injuries.
From 2007 to 2012, Capps posted 138 saves for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins. In 2012, he had a 1-4 record with 14 saves and a 3.68 ERA in 30 games.
The past two seasons were spent mostly in the minor leagues with the Cleveland Indians’ organization on the disabled list. He was limited to five innings in 2014, giving up four earned runs in five outings for the Indians’ Arizona League team.
