Thieves stole an estimated $340,000 in jewelry from the home of Miami Heat star Chris Bosh while he was out celebrating his 29th birthday, according to an NBC6 report.
Citing Miami police, Bosh phoned about 12:30 a.m. Thursday after he and his wife returned from a well-publicized party at South Beach’s Bamboo nightclub. They noticed an open jewelry drawer, and numerous watches, rings and purses were missing. Items including Bosh’s Heat championship ring were left behind.
“We got a call at 12:30 last night, Mr. Bosh called us when he arrived home,” Miami Beach Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Hernandez told The Huffington Post. “His jewelry and closet had been ransacked. There were two housekeepers on the scene that were babysitting the Bosh’s children and they didn’t hear anything.”
There was no sign of forced entry.
“Either they were let in, or they were in before the housekeepers got there,” Hernandez said. “We’re thinking that this is a total inside job. According to Mr. Bosh and Mrs. Bosh the [stolen] items were there when they left, so the window of opportunity is between 6 p.m. and midnight.”
