Charlotte Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas will miss approximately two months due to a torn left calf muscle.

The team announced Monday that an MRI showed a second-degree calf strain and a torn plantaris muscle, a muscle that helps the calf flex the ankle.

Thomas, hurt Saturday in the Bobcats’ home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, won’t require surgery.

Thomas was averaging 6.6 points and 3.1 rebounds in eight games, playing an average of 17.8 minutes a night. Hakim Warrick, acquired last week from the New Orleans Hornets, took Thomas’ place in the rotation.

The Bobcats also played Monday without guard Gerald Henderson, who missed his seventh consecutive game because of a sprained left foot.
