Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green left Sunday’s game after injuring his right hamstring on the third play from scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills at Paul Brown Stadium.

After the game, the team learned he could be out for much longer.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Green sustained a tear in his hamstring.

Green will undergo an MRI exam early this week to confirm the severity of the injury, but Rapoport’s report suggested Green will miss the remainder of the season.

“I don’t know when he can come back, but he has a hamstring injury,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said after the game.

The five-time Pro Bowler was injured while attempting to make a catch along the sideline. Green limped off the field before being carted off to the locker room.

Green has 66 catches for 964 yards and four touchdowns. He entered Sunday’s game needing just 36 receiving yards to join Randy Moss as the only players in NFL history with 1,000 or more receiving yards in their first six seasons. He did not make a catch Sunday.

The 3-6-1 Bengals travel to M&T Bank Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday.
