Brad Ausmus isn’t interested in managing the Marlins, according to the Miami Herald.

The Marlins had sought permission from the San Diego Padres to speak with Ausmus about their managerial opening, but were told that the former major-league catcher wasn’t interested, the paper said.

Ausmus is currently a special assistant to Padres general manager Josh Byrnes. He recently interviewed with the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros, but lost those jobs to John Farrell and Bo Porter, respectively.

Former catcher Mike Redmond interviewed Wednesday for the Marlins position, and Cincinnati Reds pitching coach Bryan Price is also a candidate, according to the Herald.
