Auburn running back Kamryn Pettway will be sidelined for an extended period of time with a fractured scapula, coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday.
Pettway sustained the injury during Auburn’s 52-20 win over Arkansas on Oct. 21, but Malzahn noted that he didn’t become aware of it with the Tigers until during a bye.
“We did not know that until last Friday. … He’ll be out for an extended period of time,” said Malzahn, who noted that the injury would not require surgery.
Pettway rushed for a team-high 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns last season, earning first-team All-SEC honors. The junior has been limited by injuries this season, recording just 76 carries for 305 yards with six touchdowns.
Kerryon Johnson has emerged as the team’s feature back with 723 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns for Auburn (6-2), which visits Texas A&M on Saturday.
