Houston won for the ninth time in 11 games and Jed Lowrie hit a home run on Monday, but the Astros sent the infielder back to Texas for an MRI on Tuesday.
Lowrie injured his thumb on a slide into home plate in Monday’s 9-4 victory over the San Diego Padres.
“It’s swollen,” said Lowrie “It doesn’t feel good.”
Lowrie and the Astros said they would not overreact until learning the results of Tuesday’s tests.
