The Oakland Athletics avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract with right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez, the team announced Tuesday.
Chavez went 2-4 with a save and a career-low 3.92 ERA in 35 games with the A’s last season.
The 30-year-old Chavez is 9-15 with a 5.48 ERA in 191 career games with Pittsburgh (2008-09), Atlanta (2010), Kansas City (2010-11), Toronto (2012) and Oakland (2012-13).
