The Oakland A’s activated reliever Ryan Cook from the disabled list on Monday.
Cook was out with shoulder tendinitis. No corresponding move has been announced by the club.
In the last two seasons, Cook has a 2.30 ERA and has 16 career saves as a part-time closer. In 2013, he struck out 67 batters in 67 1/3 innings.
Cook would likely take over as the team’s closer if recently-acquired Jim Johnson struggles or gets injured.
