NEW YORK — Alex Rodriguez is in the New York Yankees lineup for Opening Day, batting seventh and serving as designated hitter.
Rodriguez returns from a suspension that spanned all of the 2014 season for admitted to receiving and using performance-enhancing drugs from a Florida clinic.
Manager Joe Girardi said he is expected a mixed reaction from the Yankee Stadium crowd.
Rodriguez reported to spring training in February and issued a vague apology for “past mistakes,” but did not directly address performance-enhancing drugs.
